Cloth Diaper Care

Caring For Your New Cloth DiapersCaring for cloth diapers is easy to do! Nothing hard, except maybe adding a little more color to mom's laundry!
One thing for sure and everyone in the cloth diapering community agrees on is to NEVER use fabric softener or a scent laundry soap to wash your diapers in. The fabric softener or scented laundry soap could possible coat your diapers and cause them to repel and or leak.
Does Cloth Diaper Central suggest a laundry soap? No, we do suggest that you wash your diapers in a free and clear type of detergent. Do we suggest using sport wash or sensi clean to remove odors from your diapers and inserts? No, we do not suggest to use these cleaners to remove the smell from your diapers. What we have found is "usually" when you have an Oder hanging around it is from soap build up in your diapers. We always suggest washing your smelly diapers two times WITHOUT laundry soap, to see if this will remove the smell.
Cloth Diaper Central does suggest that you first was your diapers before using them when you receive them. Just for the first initial was we suggest that you wash your diapers, and inserts separately. If you have purchased hemp items ALWAYS wash them separately from your other cloth diapers for at least the first 4 to 8 times because the hemp has an oil in it, and it could coat your other diapers. Once you have washed your hemp 4 to 8 times it will be fine to wash all of your other cloth diapering items.
You should always follow the manufacturers washing instructions. We will now list the washing instructions per manufacturer.
Now that we have told you what we do suggest and not suggest please always keep in mind you will need to use the detergent that best works for your family and your families clothing
Fuzzi BunzFuzzi Bunz diapers are single use cloth diapers. You will need to wash both the Fuzzi Bunz and insert after each use. (Pull the insert out of the pocket before washing.)
Most babies will experience little to no diaper rash after using Fuzzi Bunz. Do not use any rash or diaper ointments or creams with the diapers. Ointments or creams could cause your diapers to link. If you need to use an ointment of cream use a diaper liner if needed.
When diaper becomes wet or dirty, separate insert and Fuzzi Bunz and store in a dry diaper pail. If soiled, simply knock solids into toilet. Small solids stuck to the fleece will dissolve in the wash.
Manufacturer Wash Instructions:First, run a cold rinse or soak cycle with no detergent.
Second, run a hot cycle with detergent (see Recommended Brands). Do not use bleach.
Third, if your hot wash is not automatically followed by a cold rinse, run a cold rinse cycle. This step only necessary with a particularly dirty load.
Tumble dry the diapers in dryer on low or hang to dry. Do not use fabric softener or pure soap*. Never dry on high heat.
